ODSA is proud to announce that it has received approval to secure a $50,000 grant through the Ministry of Health Promotion, Sport Priority Funding. ODSA applied for a second year continuation of it's successful 2006 Disc Sports Tour Outreach Program. The 2007 plan will see an expansion from the elementary school system grade 7 & 8's to include grades 9 & 10 in the secondary school system. This year we, will run 3 concurrent programs throughout the province, teaching disc golf and ultimate. Our goal for 2007/2008 is to teach at 200 schools with hands on workshops for 14,000 students. This has all the markings of an incredible program - more to follow in next newsletter! |

| 2007 Canadian Open - PDGA National Tour |
Well it's almost here.....  Toronto and the beautiful rejuventated Disc Golf Course on Ward's Island will play host to an elite group of disc golfers from around the world on the Canada Day long weekend. This event, running from June 30th through to July 2nd 2007, has one of the higher guaranteed purses for the 2007 NT series. Competitors will play one round of 18 holes per day in a standard format, with preset tee times for each foursome, allowing spectators to pick groups to follow throughout the day. Preparations have been in the works for over a year now. The course has been fully updated, bringing it back to it's former glory. Today, the course is positioning as one of the premier disc golf course in the world, thanks to the vision of Mike Sullivan and company. Look for the Canadian Open to continue for years to come. As the host organization, ODSA will add field events and freestyle to it's competitive agenda for 2008, making it the "showcase of tournaments", and THE premier event that many remember. No other venue in the world compares to the Toronto Islands with the majestic cityscape as the backdrop for this event. Plan to attend! Click on the picture above to learn more about the event. |
