Toronto - 5 Week RADD Tour
The 2008 RADD Tour is a continuation of the 2007 RADD Tour
The 2007 portion was delivered in the fall of 2007
This 2008 portion was delivered in the spring of 2008 in the Greater Toronto Region
by a group of Ultimate Players contracted through the Toronto Ultimate Club

Below is the audio/visual presentation used in our teachings

ODSA has contracted six qualified instructors through the Toronto Ultimate Club in support of the University of Toronto ultimate touring teams. Each has had background screening and are well versed in one or both disc sports.....

Nancy So, Disc Sports Instructor

Nancy had been playing ultimate for over 3 years. She is an active member of the Toronto Ultimate Club (TUC) and currently plays for the University of Toronto team, Torontula. When she's not playing ultimate, she is in the lab doing experiments to complete her PhD in Molecular Genetics. Nancy is interested in getting youth (and everyone else!) involved in ultimate because it's a new and growing sport and it promotes a healthy and active lifestyle.

Mark also has experience in teaching, just having finished the Masters of Teaching program at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. Outdoor Education was the main focus of his Masters' research, where he created and ran an Outdoor Education program in an inner-city school. Mark promises to bring his passion for the outdoors, teaching, and disc sports into every lesson, with his main goal always being to have fun.

Stephanie Salerno, Disc Sports Instructor

Stephanie has been playing Ultimate for the past four years, and started when she was in her second year of high school. From there she competed with the junior provincial team DIRT for two years where she competed at nationals, placing 4th both times. In 2007 Stephanie played for the adult mixed team called MONSTER, and once again competed at nationals this time placing 5th. She has finished her first year of university at the University of Toronto where she is enrolled in the concurrent teachers’ education program. She also competes with the University Ultimate team Tula, and in her spare time she coaches Ultimate at her former high school.

Recently, Tom has been getting more involved with ultimate leadership and coaching, captaining the Torontula B Team, becoming Volunteer Chair for TUC, getting his Ultimate Players Association (UPA) Level 1 Coaching Certification, and volunteering extensively at youth and community ultimate events.

Week 1

David and Mary Thomson Collegiate Institute  - Toronto
Thank you very much for bringing your program to our school. I know that staff and students alike were very excited and greatly enjoyed the program. Thank you again for bringing us this wonderful program.

David and Mary Thomson Collegiate Institute  - Toronto
Hi and thank you for bring the disc golf workshop to Thomson. I know that the TAC (Thomson Athletic Council) really enjoyed it and is now looking at organizing a disc golf intramural next year (possibly this year if time permits). I think we would need at least 9 'holes'.

Malvern Collegiate Institute  - Toronto
Thanks alot for having your organization come to our school. James and Nancy were great.

Earl Haig Secondary School  - Toronto
Just wanted to thank you and your organization for the wonderful clinics put on today by James and Mark. Both instructors were well prepared, enthusiastic and worked very well with the kids. Thanks for a great day!

Week 2
Sir John A. MacDonald Collegiate Institute - Toronto
Thanks so much for running a great session on disc sport at Sir John A. MacDonald C.I.   All of the students loved and enjoyed playing and learning a new sport!  The instructors were very enthusiastic and made it worthwhile and fun. The teachers really appreciated getting the teaching resources and the new discs. We hope to have a co-ed team next year! Thanks again for a great day!

Westview Centennial Secondary School - Toronto
Thanks again for the excellent workshops.....

Week 3
J.G. Workman Public School  - Toronto
I had postitive feedback from staff and students from both sessions. Things were well organized and the students had a good time. I was glad they got to play a game as well so they got a better idea of how the skills are put together.  We have continued to play in phys-ed class this week, developing further their throwing and catching skills.

Michael Power/St. Joseph High School  - Toronto
We had a great day. I think that everyone had fun. The instructors were well prepared and did a great job keeping the interest of the boys and girls.

Week 4
University of Toronto Schools (UTS)  - Toronto
Just wanted to let you know that the clinics put on today by Mark and Steph at UTS were terrific. They both did a great job! Our schedule had a last minute change (my short notice email to you last night) but they both rolled with it well and took it in stride. Thanks again for allowing us to take part in these clinics - they were a great hit at UTS!
